We woke up this morning to the news that the great Kenny Rogers had passed away at the age of 81. Rogers passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family.
Back in November of 2007 I, along with my then co-host Lisa Kaye, was honored with a chance to interview him on the phone prior to a Christmas show he had scheduled in Mankato, MN. Unfortunately, what we didn’t know was that during the interview we were getting terrible bleed-through from our AM station and it leaked into the entire interview. We decided to air the interview anyway because he was such a nice guy and was completely honest and down-to-earth.
If you can manage to block out the background interference and would like to hear that interview, I have posted below. Enjoy!
Somewhere in the darkness the Gambler he broke even… R.I.P. Kenny Rogers. Thank you for the gift of your music and stories.
